Glossary

Stash–/staSH/–a store or supply of something that is kept secret or hidden, used by most knitters to refer to accumulated yarn. This website also includes books, patterns and ideas as part of a “stash” of as-of-yet unimplemented potential made objects.

Mosh–/mäSH/–a slang term from the US 1980’s referring to dancing in a violent and erratic way, with the intention of colliding with other dancers

stash mosh is a mash up of these concepts, taking one’s yarn and pattern stashes and combining the items to create something new, sometimes with aggressively creative abandon.

BJR

Stashbusterology–/staSH-ˈbəstər-äləjē/–the science of using up stashed yarns, project ideas and patterns.

Upcycle–/ˈəp-ˌsī-kəl/–to recycle or reuse/re-purpose something in a way to add value. Projects on this site in the upcycle category specifically use items that typically are not re-usable or recyclable to save them from the landfill for “trash to treasure”.
